Megan L. Avery, Ph.D.

Dr. Avery is a clinical and forensic psychologist. She obtained her doctorate in psychology from the University of Memphis. She also has a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Science from the University of Memphis. She completed a doctoral internship with the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Since then she has been working in private practice, dividing her time between clinical and forensic services.   

Dr. Avery has a general clinical practice for adults.

She provides therapy for:  

  • mood disorders (depression, bipolar)
  • anxiety disorders (worry, generalized anxiety, panic, phobia)
  • trauma and posttraumatic stress (PTSD)
  • personality disorders, including borderline personality
  • women’s issues
  • alcohol and drug misuse
  • stress
  • couples therapy/ relationship issues
  • adult family therapy (no children)
  • sexual functioning
  • co-treatment with medical specialties

She has sought training in diversity and working within patients’ cultural, racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds. She is LGBTQI* friendly.
